TORONTO (May 11, 2016) The largest incentive travel group ever to visit Canada arrives in Toronto this week as delegates from Perfect China begin their week in Canada’s largest city.

“Perfect China is one of the largest direct-sales companies in the world and destinations from every continent bid hoping to attract them,” said Johanne Belanger, President and CEO of Tourism Toronto. “We are thrilled to welcome 4,500 delegates to Toronto. Not only is this an important group for our hospitality industry, but the profile in China that comes with hosting this prestigious event can lead to further incentive travel groups choosing Toronto.”

Incentive travel programs are overseas educational trips offered by sales companies like Perfect China to their top sales representatives. Prior to Toronto this year, the annual event was recently held in Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Sydney and Milan. The bid to attract Perfect China to Toronto took over a year and resulted in an official signing ceremony in 2014, witnessed by Premier Kathleen Wynne and other dignitaries in Beijing.

The group’s itinerary in Toronto includes city tours, the CN Tower, Royal Ontario Museum, City Hall, University of Toronto, visits to different areas including the Distillery District and day trips to Niagara Falls and the Normal Bethune House in Gravenhurst (a popular site for Chinese visitors thanks to Dr. Bethune’s official roles in China over many years). There are 15 hotels involved in hosting the delegates, illustrating the size and reach of the delegation.

“Toronto is in many ways an ideal destination because it offers the energy and sophistication of downtown plus the opportunity to see natural wonders and beauty in the surrounding areas,” said Tan Sri Dato’ KOO YUEN KIM P.S.M., D.P.T.J.J.P, Chairman of Perfect (China) Col, Ltd. “We have felt very welcome from the first moment we began working with Tourism Toronto and look forward to all of our delegates having the opportunity to explore Toronto.”

China is the largest overseas tourism market for Toronto with more than 260,000 visitors in 2015, and the second-largest international market behind only the U.S. The number of visitors from China to Toronto has more than doubled since the city welcomed 114,000 Chinese visitors in 2010. In 2015 Toronto set a new record for international visitors by welcoming 4.2 million travelers from around the world.

For more than 20 years Perfect China has been one of China’s leading direct-sales organizations, including four production facilities and eight subsidiaries, 33 branches, eight offices and more than 10,000 chain outlets nationwide in China.
